Aviation (Air Taxi & Cargo)

Air Taxi Co. was founded in the 1970’s and was originally named the National Agricultural Organization (NAO). The initial focus of the company was in crop spraying operations, and indeed it operated successfully within Sudan and regionally in Egypt and Ethiopia. In the early 1980’s the company changed its name to Air Taxi Co. Ltd. and started operating domestic charter and scheduled flights. Rapid expansion of the company’s aircraft fleet resulted in an operational fleet of 24 light and medium aircraft with an average of 10 flights a day from its base in Khartoum International Airport. During the 1990s the management decided to scale back its operations due to a high inflation rate and general instability of the country which made operating an air taxi service nearly impossible. The company decided to focus on aircraft maintenance. Today Air Taxi Co. Ltd. is the largest maintenance company of light aircraft in Sudan. The company and its engineers are fully certified by the Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority.

The promising economic boom and return of economic stability along with the vast aviation requirement for reconstruction of the south has convinced us that time is right to resume flight operations. The company has now acquired an IL76, a heavy cargo aircraft, new offices, and highly qualified staff, and has being certified by the Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority as an aircraft operating company. With the aircraft at our hanger we are planning during the month of February to commence our inaugural flights are being scheduled.
